Our People: North America

Having grown up in Western New York, I had heard a lot about Moog. I studied Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Buffalo and, since Moog is one of the only aerospace related companies in the area, I began to research them a little further. As I found out more about Moog’s co-op program, values and the people that work there, it became clear it was the perfect place to fulfil my aspirations.
The co-op programme gave me the opportunity to “audition” Moog. It’s what drew me into the organization and it was the experience that would ensure I stayed. After completing my co-op orientation, I was really excited about my first day at work. I was introduced to my team members and was surprised to find that I wasn’t sitting in a co-ops only section - I was sitting with a real engineering team. Everybody was so personable and always willing to help me in any way they could.
As a co-op student, you’re required to do a presentation about your work and experience at Moog. The CEO, Bob Brady, is invited to every presentation and he usually makes it to at least one. My presentation happened to be the one he chose to go to that year. Within six months of being at the company, I was presenting to the CEO - I never expected that. I am now a product engineer for Military Product Services in the Aircraft Group, overseeing production, assembly and operational verification of actuation systems for UH-60 and B-2. What I enjoy most about my career is the challenge and the variety – and never knowing what’s around the corner.
