Our People: North America

If there was one story I could tell you to really sum up a company like Moog, it would be this: A few years ago, one of our largest brush motor customers produced three-wheeled scooters for people with disabilities. The company eventually moved on, but occasionally we would get a request from someone to buy a motor directly from us. One day, I received a letter from an elderly woman. The letter was very touching. She explained that she was handicapped and that her only source of income was Social Security. Without her scooter she had no way to get around and she couldn't afford to buy a new one from the scooter manufacturer who sold our product, which cost them around $50, for $850. She really had nowhere to turn.

I took the letter to a supervisor and we agreed we would build her a motor for free. Some employees found out about the request and the letter made its way through the production line. A couple of days later I received the motor and around $300 in cash. The employees of the line were so touched by this lady that they took up a collection for her. I sent the motor and money. And a few days later I received a call. It was the elderly woman. She was so appreciative that she couldn't stop crying. She was just overcome by the kindness of our employees - as was I. Until recently we received a Christmas card from her every year, and she never forgot how some unknown people, who were part of a large corporation, reached out to her in her moment of need.

And that's why people thrive here. Moog may be one on the world's number one technology companies, but it knows that its people are its strength. And it has a culture that reflects that. It's the same wherever you're part of Moog. As a Sales Manager I deal with a diverse customer base and many internal departments, and I'm exposed to this culture everyday. I couldn't have chosen a career with a better company.
