Our People: North America

One of the best things about working here is that people work together to ensure that everyone succeeds. For the first few months after I joined, I was working almost entirely on mechanical failures. My background's in electrical engineering, so it was a bit difficult to understand a lot of what was going on to begin with. But everyone at Moog is always so willing to help and mentor that I soon understood what I needed to know. I now feel much more well-rounded because I have that additional experience.

I'm currently working on the F-35 EUs. I worked on the design/build side of things for about a year, and I'm now moving into the test environment. It's exciting because every day brings a new problem that requires a solution. Things never get boring and you're exposed to a lot of different aspects of engineering. It's very rewarding to see progress being made and to know that I was part of it.

This past year, the F-35 BF-1 had a successful first flight. It was a really exciting day for us over in Aircraft. We all gathered round the TV screens to watch the live-feed from Fort Worth and see the aircraft take off and have a successful mission. The anticipation was nerve-wracking, and everyone clapped and cheered when the plane was in the air. The sense of accomplishment was tangible and made all of the team's efforts in the past year feel so worthwhile.

Many of my friends at other companies think it's remarkable that I get to work on such intensive and exciting projects, and to be involved in things like fighter airplanes or space shuttle launches. They're also impressed by the working atmosphere here: Moog promotes respect, trust, honesty and self-discipline, unlike most work places, which seem to deal more in micro-management and power struggles.
