Our People: North America
Alan Spring
Web Director
East Aurora, NY, USA
I've only been with Moog for two months, so I'm still really fresh from my interview and orientation, but what I've found out already is that Moog really cares about its products and the people who create them. I was struck during my interview how much care they took to get the right fit between me, the role I was applying for and the company culture, so I was really confident that I'd enjoy being here. Everyone I encountered was open, honest, helpful, professional and really excited about the company.
During my on-site orientation I got to see some of the incredible work that happens here. It was overwhelmingly clear that Moog people take unusual pride in the quality of their work and enjoy overcoming the difficulties involved. The products are incredibly highly engineered, must operate in extreme conditions and simply cannot fail because of their critical nature. It was great fun to tell my young sons that I'd gotten to handle machinery that was used on Space Shuttle missions.
My first official day with Moog was spent on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. I was invited to attend a global summit about Moog International Group's plans for the Web, so I had a whirlwind meeting with Payroll and Benefits, IT handed me my equipment and the Travel Department handed me my plane tickets. It was a great way to begin, not only because of the subject matter and the fantastic location, but also due to the obvious commitment, enthusiasm and expertise of everybody there.
My role in Moog as Web Director means I get to work across all of the operating divisions and geographic locations where Moog has a presence. I enjoy the challenge of such a large and visible project, and the opportunity to work with so many people across the organization. I'm getting to learn about Moog very quickly while improving on my own professional strengths. It's a great place to work.
