Our People: Europe

I've actually had two first days here. I first joined Moog Amsterdam eight years ago, but left two years later to go on a big round-the-world trip. When I re-joined Moog Amsterdam after four years of travelling, it had become part of the Moog group so it was good to find that everything I liked about the company was still there, but there was something extra too. It was a bit of a homecoming, as I caught-up with a lot of old friends and colleagues, but there were plenty of new people to meet. They were relaxed, confident, trusting and passionate - there was such a positive atmosphere amongst my colleagues, and that never goes away at Moog.

All the engineers get along really well. I suppose we've all got a lot in common in our love of engineering, but it makes time here special. We're good friends outside of work and enjoy work outings whether it's drinks or a party where the company band play. We also have a company soccer team and go on more active outings like waterskiing and ice-skating. A positive atmosphere like this really helps you enjoy a job.

The best thing, though, is when we pay visits to clients to see how our technology has helped them. I've always loved engineering – before it was my job it was my hobby – and so to see the things we've made put into action is great because it gets used for some really interesting projects. I'm in the team that develops controllers used to control car-testing systems. This means that the technology we make is amazing but so is the use for it – I get to be very close to all of the interesting developments and I'm so proud that our technology is used by the biggest names in the car industry.
