The Application Process

Although not impossible, it would be very, very difficult to become an Engineer at Moog without having an engineering degree. So we do pretty much insist on you having at least a 2.1 in a relevant degree from a good university (although potential's just as important as your academic record). It's most likely that your degree will be in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or contain a large component thereof.

However, please don't get too hung up by the details of your degree – or whether you did this module or that dissertation – because we won't be. Your degree is your entry-level qualification. It shows you understand basic principles, that you're bright and that you have the propensity to learn. But there's a big, big difference between the academic and the working worlds, and between theory and practice. We need to know that the transition's going to be one to inspire you.

So we don't simply look for academic achievement. We look for enthusiasm and the ability to turn your hand to a number of different activities. Hobbies are good. And any examples of working as part of a team won't go amiss. So before you complete your application, trawl your mind for examples of activities from outside of the classroom. And think of a time when you've solved a problem by breaking it down and constructing the answer piece by piece. It's a good skill to have in our line of work.
